Job Description
The Surgical Technologist in the Labor and Delivery unit is responsible for handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during obstetrical procedures in the Operating Room.
They must understand the surgical procedure and anticipate the surgeon’s needs to ensure quality patient care.
Maintaining the sterile field and assisting under the supervision of a registered nurse are key duties.
Minimum education includes a high school diploma or GED; relevant experience involves graduation from a Surgical Technologist program, one year of OR experience, or three years of direct patient care.
Required licensure includes BLS certification; NRP is preferred. Additional qualifications such as fetal monitoring workshop completion and surgical asepsis training are advantageous.
