Registered Nurse (RN) – Employee Health

PRN

Position Summary:

  • Promotes employee health programs for staff, physicians, volunteers, and students, supporting the worker’s compensation program and OSHA log for Sovah Health – Martinsville.
  • Conducts pre-employment and annual health screenings for all employees.
  • Evaluates employees who are ill or injured on the job and refers them for further treatment as needed.
  • Monitors and treats employees exposed to communicable diseases per protocols.
  • Administers medications according to established orders.
  • Maintains accurate employee health records.
  • Stays updated on nursing practices and attends relevant educational seminars.
  • Participates in the Infection Control and Safety Committees.
  • Compiles monthly and quarterly quality assurance reports.
  • Acts as HR contact for student intern/shadowing programs.
  • Maintains OSHA logs and reports employee injuries to the Insurance Carrier.
  • Manages Workers’ Compensation claims and follows up with all parties involved.
  • Coordinates temporary light-duty assignments for employees.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse licensed in Virginia or a compact state.
  • Minimum of three years of nursing experience; employee or occupational health experience preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work under protocols.
  • Ability to maintain emotional control and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
