Job Description

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and following Practitioner medical orders, provides direct and indirect nursing care in an outpatient setting. Also serves as a resource and mentor for LPN Clinic/Meds I as needed.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and reviews medical records, initiates follow-ups, and documents patient information.
  • Implements nursing procedures, administers treatments and medications, and performs point-of-care testing.
  • Documents care interventions and collaborates with RN/Practitioner to adjust care plans as necessary.
  • Maintains competency in nursing skills, participates in staff meetings, and coordinates projects.
  • Efficiently handles emergency situations and assigns tasks to unlicensed personnel.
  • Manages patient vaccine data and ensures compliance with immunization guidelines.
  • Trains staff on vaccine storage and coordinates VFC inventory.
  • Participates in infection control and provides patient education.
  • Assists in orienting new personnel and demonstrates clinical procedures.
  • Maintains and organizes supplies, schedules patient appointments, and processes forms.
  • OHS only: Certification in Spirometry, Hearing Conservation, & Substance Abuse Specimen Collection required within one year of hire.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills for age-appropriate and culturally sensitive care.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12 months of LPN experience.
  • Completion of Hawaii State Board of Nursing approved LPN curriculum.
  • Hawaii LPN license required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong skills in conflict resolution, customer service, and communication.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Mathematical skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in acute care nursing.
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Primary Location: Hawaii, Hilo, Hilo Medical Offices
Hours Per Week: 20
Shift: Day
Workdays: Mon-Fri
Job Schedule: Part-time
Employee Status: Regular
Travel: Yes, 50% of the time
