TITLE OF POSITION: INTERMEDIATE CLERK DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Performs varied clerical support activities in an administrative/school office; learns and applies technical or specialized procedures; deals effectively with students, parents and teachers, following prescribed policies; and performs related duties and responsibilities as required, under general supervision. SUPERVISION: Responsible to site administration. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assumes responsibility for accuracy and completeness of activities assigned. Maintains records accurately and prepares summaries and reports. Operates standard and specialized office equipment such as calculators, computers, copiers and switchboard. Posts and checks records of a statistical or accounting nature in an accurate manner. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Serves and assists professional staff. Does standard and statistical typing/word processing skillfully and efficiently. Works with and assists students, employees, parents and the public, primarily on official records and information, as required by the particular assignment. Applies new procedures as changes or assignments vary. Performs related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduation from high school, including or supplemented by in typing and office practices. Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible office and clerical experience, preferably including experience in school or statistical work. Knowledge of: Office records and procedures; office and instructional supplies; files and filing; methods used in compiling data and statistical information; English, grammar, composition and basic mathematics. Familiarity with: School district organization and objectives. Working with students; methods for organizing and keeping track of instructional materials and supplies. Ability to: Learn and follow specific policies, procedures and systems in an orderly, accurate and productive manner; read, understand and apply written instructions as applies to forms, reports and specialized materials; deal courteously and effectively with students, teachers and administrative personnel, including classified staff, volunteers and part-time helpers; assist in communicating with and training others, including student helpers. Personal Qualities: Maturity, judgment and attitudes appropriate to an educational environment; interest in and willingness to learn specialized routines and materials; willingness to accept responsibilities assigned and to perform within that framework.
