Under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist, the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) schedules, plans, and delivers occupational therapy treatments and home instruction to patients. Key areas include daily living skills, functional mobility, and neuromuscular reeducation. The COTA utilizes adaptive equipment, administers basic evaluations, and documents patient progress.
Responsibilities:
Reports to the department manager with clinical supervision from a licensed occupational therapist. Responsible for supervising volunteers and support staff, ensuring safe care, and maintaining confidentiality. Must demonstrate professional communication and management skills.
Requirements:
Graduate from an accredited occupational therapy program. New graduates accepted; experience preferred. Must hold a license from the Executive Council of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners and CPR certification.
