BHIS Counselor

Job Description

Position: Behavioral Health Intervention Specialist (BHIS)

Responsibilities:

• Work with families to create supportive home environments and address children’s behavioral health needs.
• Engage youth in skill-building programs targeting communication, emotion management, and conflict resolution.
• Write service plans based on diagnoses and collaborate with families and community supports.
• Provide high-quality services, completing an average of 75 hours monthly.
• Complete documentation per guidelines and ensure funding authorizations are current.
• Attend required training and assess ongoing behavioral concerns.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or related field with relevant mental health experience.
• Minimum of two years in a behavioral healthcare setting.
