Job Description

Job Summary:
The Surgical Technologist, under the supervision of registered nurses, is responsible for setting up and maintaining the surgical field, assisting surgeons during procedures, and ensuring an aseptic environment. The role involves knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization methods, and contributing to efficient operating room operations. This position is PRN.

Qualifications and Education:
– High School diploma or GED required.
– Certification as a Surgical Technologist required.
– BLS certification required or to be obtained within one year.
– Surgical Tech II: Minimum of 3 years of experience required; Surgical Tech I: prior experience preferred.

Essential Duties:
– Prepare and clean the surgical suite.
– Maintain sterile surgical field and assist surgeons.
– Perform instrument counts and anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
– Transport and position patients.

Physical Demands:
– Moderate physical effort; ability to lift/move 25-50 pounds.
– Must respond quickly to emergencies.

Work Environment:
– Climate-controlled but exposed to various hazards and stressful situations.
