Job Description

The Clinical Nurse in Elective Orthopedics provides compassionate patient care through active listening and kindness.

  • Implements physician orders, administers medications, starts IVs, performs treatments, procedures, and tests, and documents care according to regulations.

  • Evaluates diagnostic tests, assesses patient needs, and applies sound nursing judgment in care decisions.

  • Provides primary and emergency care for injuries and illnesses, administering medications as ordered.

  • Collaborates with the nursing team to develop a Plan of Care and guides ancillary staff to maintain professional standards.

  • Requires graduate of a nursing program, current NYS RN license, BLS and ACLS certification, and 1-3 years of clinical experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care.

  • Must have strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with knowledge of quality improvement principles.
