The Pediatric ICU (PICU) is a 19-bed unit caring for critically ill children aged 0-21 with conditions like respiratory illness, trauma, sepsis, neurological disorders, and post-surgical needs. Nurses in this role implement physician orders, administer medications, perform treatments, interpret diagnostic tests, evaluate patient responses, and provide emergency and primary care. They collaborate on care plans, guide staff, and ensure quality standards.
The role may involve handling sensitive patient information, requiring adherence to privacy regulations.
