Job Description

The registered nurse in the Post Cardiothoracic Surgery department assesses, plans, and manages patient care throughout their stay, focusing on discharge readiness and care transitions.

  • Implements physician orders, administers medications, performs treatments, and documents accordingly.

  • Evaluates diagnostic tests, assesses patient needs, and applies sound nursing judgment for care decisions.

  • Provides primary and emergency care for various injuries and illnesses, including medication administration.

  • Collaborates with the team to develop and follow a comprehensive Plan of Care.

  • Guides ancillary staff and maintains professional nursing standards.

    • Qualifications include a nursing diploma, associate or baccalaureate degree, current NYS RN license, BLS certification, and preferred experience as a PCA or nursing assistant. Continuing education and quality improvement knowledge are encouraged. The role requires adherence to confidentiality and data protection regulations.
