Job Description

The clinical Nurse in the Float Pool provides compassionate patient care through active listening and kindness, contributing to a supportive environment for patients, families, and colleagues.

  • Implements physician orders, administers medications, starts IVs, performs treatments, procedures, and tests, and documents care according to policies and regulations.

  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.

  • Assesses patient needs and responses to care, applying sound nursing judgment for management decisions.

  • Provides primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.

  • Administers medications as ordered and collaborates with the team to create and follow patient care plans.

  • Directs ancillary personnel and maintains professional nursing standards.

    • Minimum qualifications include a nursing degree, current NYS RN license, BLS and ACLS certifications, 1-3 years of clinical RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care, and strong communication and organizational skills. The role requires adherence to confidentiality policies regarding sensitive information.
