Job Description

The Clinical Nurse in the Emergency Department provides compassionate patient care through active listening and kindness.

  • Implements physician orders, administers medications, starts IVs, performs treatments, procedures, and documents care according to policies and regulations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.
  • Assesses patient needs and responses to care, using sound nursing judgment for management decisions.
  • Offers primary and emergency care for injuries and illnesses, administering prescribed medications.
  • Collaborates with the team to develop patient care plans and guides ancillary staff.
  • Requires a nursing degree (Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate), current NYS RN license, and certifications in BLS and ACLS.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of clinical RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care, with strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement principles and problem-solving tools is essential.
