Job Description

Job Summary:
Conducts diagnostic ultrasonographic procedures and provides training and orientation to staff as assigned.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Performs diagnostic ultrasound exams, selecting appropriate transducer settings and utilizing devices for hard copy records.
  • Utilizes PACS and Radiology Information System, recognizing equipment limitations and differentiating normal from pathological anatomy.
  • Adapts techniques for enhanced visualization and collaborates with physicians on diagnostic reports.
  • Calibrates ultrasound equipment and trains other sonographers as directed.
  • Correlates patient history with procedures and consults with radiologists as needed.
  • Stays updated on advancements in diagnostic medical sonography.
  • Fosters positive inter-departmental relationships.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum two years of post-graduate experience in specialty area.
  • Graduate from an approved ultrasound training program or equivalent experience.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong skills in customer service, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree.

Location: Hilo Medical Offices, Hawaii
Hours: 40/week, variable shifts
Travel: 10%
