Job Description

Position: Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Type: PRN – Tier I (Minimum 1 shift/pay period, 1 weekend shift/month, 1 holiday/year)

Experience: Minimum of 18 months RN hospital experience required.

Position Summary:

  • Administers care interventions, including medication, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
  • Documents all patient care provided.
  • Monitors and communicates patient conditions to the care team, physician, and family.
  • Identifies changes in patient status and reports to the appropriate team member.
  • Prioritizes patient problems based on urgency and acuity.
  • Assists patients with daily living activities, including hygiene and nutrition.
  • Coordinates care across disciplines for transfers, discharges, and support needs.
  • Evaluates and provides education to patients and families based on their needs.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current RN licensure from Virginia or a Compact State.
  • Preferred experience in an acute care setting.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • AHA ACLS and PALS certifications required within one year of employment.
