The Charge Nurse is responsible for delegating and coordinating patient care, ensuring patient satisfaction, and meeting staffing needs according to the department’s staffing plan. They provide leadership by collaborating with nursing staff, ensuring resource availability, adherence to policies, and compliance with regulations. Clinically knowledgeable, they also perform bedside nursing duties and assist with on-call coverage as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Preferred leadership experience.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current RN licensure in Oregon.
- Current BLS upon hire.
- Part-Time or Full-Time status.
- Preferred 2 years of relevant clinical experience.
- Must obtain ACLS and PALS within 6 months of hire.
- Competent in rhythm identification.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assists in department operations and collaborates with other unit charge nurses.
- Ensures compliance with policies and regulations.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the Nursing Process across all age groups.
- Manages staffing based on patient acuity and census.
- Coordinates breaks and relief assignments.
- Assists in orienting new staff.
- Provides real-time coaching and feedback.
- Acts as a role model for new ideas and projects.
